Fiesta Cubana - De Badcuyp - Amsterdam

Ook al ga je naar de 'Badcuyp' in hartje Amsterdam om lekker te dansen, al gauw waan je je in een authentiek gezellig Cubaans barretje waar men lekker feest, danst en geniet.Wat kan je zoal verwachten als je daar binnen bent? Om te beginnen een dansvloer van ongeveer 8 bij 8 exclusief een podium waar DJ Arno zijn kunsten vertoont. Dat doet hij trouwens al jaren op deze locatie en nog steeds is het een populaire salsa avond.

Qua doelgroep zijn het meer de salsafanaten van middelbare leeftijd die er doorgaans komen. Je ervaart er ook een sfeertje van: ons kent ons. Gemoedelijk dus. De muziek is echt Cubaans. Dat was, is en zal ook zo blijven volgens de Dj. Dus de echte Cuban dance liefhebber kan zich hier dus helemaal uitleven. Wat wel opvallend was, was dat er best veel vrouwen aan de kant stonden te wachten om gehaald te worden. Of er waren te weinig mannen, te veel vrouwen of er was een andere onbekende reden die hier aan bijdroeg.

Persoonlijk vind ik het een super locatie voor een salsa party. Met name qua sfeer, de grootte van de dansruimte en de locatie.

El Punto Latino - Amsterdam

Van alle salsaclubs is ‘El Punto Latino’ de meest opmerkelijkste salsaclub waar ik ooit heb gedanst. Bij aankomst word je vriendelijk verwelkomt, door een uitsmijter waarvan het raadzaam is om hem te vriend te houden. Ben je eenmaal binnen dan word je eerst grondig gefouilleerd. Voor de echte salsaliefhebber volstrekt overbodig lijkt mij. Dan kom je nog bij de garderobe, waar je je jas voor € 2,50 kunt ophangen. En als je eenmaal binnen bent, dan gaat het gebeuren…..

Opmerkelijk waren de eerste 3 nummers, die toch wel erg veel leken op dance nummers. Ik begon me echt af te vragen of ik wel in de juiste salsatent was. En juist op dat moment hoor ik de vertrouwde klanken van de salsa. Ik pakte direct mijn kans om te gaan dansen. Maar goed ook want na 2 salsa songs en een bachata hoorde ik weer de dance- en popmuziek. En zo wisselde de dj de gehele avond zijn muziekkeuze af. Voor elk wat wils zullen we maar zeggen. Eerlijk gezegd was de salsa die de dj draaide wel erg goed. Dat gold ook voor de bachata en merengue nummers.

Ook het publiek was niet het standaard publiek wat je verwacht op een salsa party. Om te beginnen waren er de jongeren van gemiddeld 20 tot 25 jaar die het liefst aan de kant zitten, kijken en drinken. Dan had je een opvallende groep: de toeristen, die volledig uit hun dak gingen op de dance- en popmuziek. En tot slot het kleine doelgroepje salsaliefhebbers. Laten we zeggen die enkeling die volop genoot van de muziek waarvoor hij of zij specifiek kwam. Een voordeel was wel dat je lekker de ruimte had op de dansvloer op de momenten dat er salsa gedraaid werd. Dansvloer Klein maar fijn. Zeker als de dansvloer ook bezet wordt door de vele niet-dansers.

Het was erg opvallend dat er zoveel bewaking rondliep in deze ‘salsateca’. Een uitsmijter bij de deur en drie binnen. Dan praten we over een dansvloer van ongeveer 15 bij 5 ruim gerekend.

Persoonlijk gezegd is Punto Latino eerder een gezellige bar waar je kan dansen op diverse muziekstijlen, dan een echte hardcore salsaclub. Ook al hoor je niet veel salsa, je hoort wel lekkere salsa. Als je met de verwachting komt om de gehele avond te dansen dan kan het een flinke teleurstelling worden. Vind je het niet erg om af toe salsa te horen afgewisseld met dance- en popmuziek dan is het helemaal ok. Bij deze weet je dus wat je kan verwachten!

La Noche - Sir Winston - Rijswijk

La Noche *Salsa Edition* with DJ Willy

After attending this party for the second time, I have to admit that it La Noche is definitely one of the best parties in den Haag. Cool, relaxed, fun, and stylish… it leaves no room for complains to anyone! With a very classy atmosphere, carefully selected DJS and spectacular shows, it gives plenty of reasons not to miss it every single time!

There were two main outstanding themes during the night, the music, and the shows: When it comes to the shows, the audience had the chance to enjoy two brand new choreos by La Essencia (Los muchachos) and Estilo-Dancers (Tin Marin) -two shows full of energy that were performed really well, and made the crowd respond to them very actively- giving every performer the motivation to keep on dancing.

But the best part of the night was -without a doubt- the music. DJ Willy, yet another time, did his best, playing sounds that everybody loves and wants to dance to, with mainly salsa, bachata and kizomba choices. DJ Willy really knows how to read people’s minds and give them exactly what they are looking for while dancing, keeping the dance floor full all night long. While chatting with many of the dancers, everyone admitted that they had not enjoyed such good music in a very long time!

Last but not least…let’s not forget the ice-cream, which was the perfect cool off to a very hot night! Until next time...see you all in La Noche!

Plaza Danza - Groningen

Eindelijk was het dan zover, in de auto van Noordwijk aan Zee naar Groningen om een feestje te vieren bij Plaza Danza. Ondanks mijn vele voornemens was het er niet eerder van gekomen om deze speciale locatie te bezoeken.  Roy Tweeboom, eigenaar van de locatie, was dan ook verrast om mij daar aan te treffen. Deze salsaliefhebber in hart en nieren heeft het vijf jaar geleden toch maar voor elkaar gekregen. Een schitterende multifunctionele danslocatie met een hele grote danszaal op de begane grond en meerdere kleinere danszalen op de 1e etage. Als ik met niet vergis was het ooit een oude kerk die van top tot teen volledig verbouwd is tot een ware danstempel.

Als je er voor het eerst komt is het misschien wel even zoeken, want de locatie zit verstopt achter in een smal steegje. Pas na twee keer passeren zag ik het toch wel opvallende rood/witte verlichte bord met het logo en de naam van de locatie ‘Plaza Danza’. Maar als je dat eenmaal weet! Des te meer verrassant is de locatie wanneer je binnen komt. Want dit verwacht je, lopend door zo’n smal steegje echt niet. Goede dansvloeren, verlichting en geluid. Sfeervol ingericht met behoud van het oude karakter van het gebouw. En in het midden van de begane grond staat een hele grote trap om naar de 1e etage te komen.  Ongemakkelijk voor de dansers zou je denken. Niets is minder waar, de ruimte rondom deze enorme trap zeer groot en meer dan voldoende voor de meest wilde danser. Voordeel van deze trap is wel dat het lekker uitnodigt om eens rond te lopen zonder dat je het gevoel hebt dat je bekeken wordt.

Ik was er dus tijden de party ter eren van het vijfjarig bestaan van de locatie. Zoals verwacht was het er druk, warm, relaxed en super gezellig. Leuke mensen, jong en oud vermaakte zich prima op de muziek van de band en de DJ. Belangrijker voor de insiders dan voor de outsiders waren uiteraard de gebruikelijke officiële speeches en bedankjes. Maar gelukkig waren die kort en mochten de pret niet drukken. Het barpersoneel was vriendelijk, maar door de drukte ging het er enigszins chaotisch aan toe. Uiteraard kon dat de pret niet drukken. Honderden dansers, jong en oud, stonden volop te genieten.  Het enige minpuntje naar mijn mening was daardoor de warmte. Ondanks de enorme airco en afzuiginstallatie was deze tijdens dit zeer drukt bezochte event niet opgewassen tegen de warmte die de honderden dansers aan het produceren waren. Maar ach, we zijn het gewent in de latin scene, ja toch.

Plaza Danza is een schitterende locatie en een aanwinst voor de salsa in het Noorden en  Groningen in het bijzonder. Menig liefhebber uit het Noorden zal dat bevestigen. Heb je dus eens zin in een uitstapje verder van huis zoals ik. Dan is succes verzekerd op deze bijzondere locatie in Groningen, het heeft alles wat een dansliefhebber maar kan wensen.

Salsa Club Mystique - Amsterdam

Liefhebbers van live muziek kunnen regelmatig hun hart ophalen bij Salsa Club Mystique (Salsa 4 Fun) in Amsterdam. Afgelopen zomer waren we daar voor een live concert van Jimmy Bosch en Herman Olivera. De club bevindt zich vlak bij het Westergasterrein en is zeer goed bereikbaar. Parkeren is er niet anders dan overal in Amsterdam, een plekje vinden is niet altijd even gemakkelijk. Ondanks dat  we relatief aan de late kant waren, was een geschikte plek in ons geval redelijk snel gevonden.

Via de entree op de begane grond kom je via de trap boven in een super sfeervolle zaal. Geprobeerd is om de locatie een rustiek Cubaanse uitstraling te geven en voor zover ik kan beoordelen is dat in mijn optiek ook zeker gelukt. De locatie lijkt op een buitenplein met veel gewelven en een schitterende bar. De strakke houten dansvloer is heerlijk om op te dansen. In dit geval was deze wat kleiner dan gebruikelijk omdat de band op het podium een vijfde van de vloer in gebruik had.  Des al niet te min was er ondanks de gezellige drukte ook nog voldoende ruimte om te dansen.

De verlichting en het geluid maakte het verhaal compleet.  Alles is goed op elkaar afgestemd en geeft een totale beleving. Ook de toiletten en de garderobe waren prima geregeld. Uiteraard was het er tropisch warm, ondanks de op volle toeren draaiende airco’s, maar dat is niet ongebruikelijk in de latin scene. Zeker wanneer er een paar honderd liefhebbers zich fanatiek over de dansvloer begeven. De dorst is echter snel gelest, het vriendelijke personeel is snel. Lang wachten is er dus niet bij. En wie van een lekkere mojito houdt is bij Salsa Club Mystique zeker aan het goede adres. Een goede mojito smaakt altijd naar meer, jammer dat te veel ervan niet te combineren is met dansen.

Gelukkig was het drinken van mojito's op deze avond geen probleem, want zelfs voor niet dansers was het volop genieten tijdens het exclusieve concert van deze twee top muziekanten. Knallende live muziek voor een selecte groep van 350 liefhebbers, want meer mensen kunnen er niet in deze locatie. En dat maakt het nou juist zo bijzonder. Live muziek van de bovenste plank in een intieme sfeer en een relaxte locatie.

Maar voor de echte dansliefhebber is deze locatie zeker ook een aanrader. Elke vrijdagavond kan er namelijk na hartenlust worden gedanst, gedanst en nog eens gedanst op de beste muziek van top DJ's. Met de zelfde sfeer, ambiance, heerlijke muziek en gezelligheid.

Nog nooit op deze locatie geweest, dan is het zeker een aanrader voor alle liefhebbers salsadansen en -muziek!

Baila-Si! - Don Bosco Amsterdam

Elke 2e en laatste vrijdag van de maand is er in Amsterdam Oost een klein, maar zeker o zo gezellig danszaaltje waar Baila-Si! zijn deuren opent om lekker te kunen dansen. De gezellige sfeer komt met name doordat het zich in een kelder afspeelt en omdat het de sfeer van een buurthuis ademt. Zodra je binnen bent heb je meteen het gevoel alsof het een grote familie is die daar gezellig komt dansen. De meesten kennen elkaar en iedereen danst ook met elkaar. Over het algemeen wordt er veel Cubaans gedanst, maar voor de echte dansliefhebber moet dat niets uitmaken en is het een kwestie van op elkaar afstemmen, leiden en volgen. Gewoon lekker dansen en genieten dus. Kwa vervoer is het goed bereikbaar. Met de bus is het 5 minuten van het Amstelstation. Als je met de auto komt kan je voor de deur gartis parkeren.

Bij binnenkomst betaal je €2,50. Er is ook catering waar je lekkere empanadas kunt eten. Je weet wel, die heerlijk krokante pasteitjes. Zoals bij bijna elk salsafeestje is het ook bij Baila-Si gezellig warm. Er is geen airco, hoewel er wel degelijk ventilatoren staan die voor de nodige gevoelsmatige verkoeling zorgen. De muziek is lekker gevarieerd en bestaat uit salsa, bachata en merenque. Omdat het in een buurthuis is, genaamd Don Bosco, zijn de barprijzen lekker laag. Reken gemiddeld op € 1,50 per drankje.

DJ Chris, tevens leraar heeft het behoorlijk druk met draaien, te woord staan van leerlingen en salseros van buiten zijn club. Zijn amicale houding draagt bij aan puur en een gezellig feestje. Gelukkig is de dansvloer lekker glad en dat zorgt ervoor dat er gemiddeld vanaf 23.30 uur er volop wordt gedanst. De opkomst van het publiek is erg goed, de gemiddelde leeftijd is ronde de 35 jaar. Dus het is altijd een goede opkomst van een publiek vanaf  plusminus 30 jaar.

Conclusie
Voor een gezellig avondje salsa dansen kan je zeker terecht bij Baila-Si. De ongedwongen sfeer en de aangename ruimte schept een ideale situatie om lekker te kunnen dansen en te socializen. Ik wens ieder bij Baila Si! veel plezier.

Caribbean Night Fever - Amstelveen

For those who love-not only salsa-but also the Caribbean sounds....this party, hosted by GlennTjong A Hung (Fantastico events) was one of the most incredible experiences I have had in a very long time-and a party that I would definitely recommend for those who seek to have a perfect dancing night! To begin with, the location (Club Nouvelle-Amstelveen) was unexpectedly spacious, and while driving to Amstelveen I did not expect that I would come across such a wonderful place: Lots of space to dance, ideal wooden floor, a great large bar and the DJ booth right in the heart of the dance floor, where it is supposed to be in real clubs.The decoration was beautiful, and the lights soft and colourful, but not tiring at all.

What is more, the music choices were absolutely fantastic, and kept the dance floor crowded until the very last dance. With DJ Bass and DJ Gilly as resident DJs and DJ Kelly GR and DJ lady Caro as guest DJs the crowd could only be amazed by the sounds: bachata, merengue, Caribbean soca, calypso, kaseko, kizomba and zouk were the main choices that kept the dancers…busy and excited!The sound quality was also very high.

The event had a relaxed-but at the same time-glamorous character, with photos being taken by an excellent photographer all over night.I particularly enjoyed the fact that the party was packed with dancers from all over Holland and therefore everyone had an opportunity to meet and socialize with new people, enjoy themselves, and have a good time.

Another impressive fact of the night was….the midnight snacks - which yes - were advertised in the event but in this case…the reality was much higher than my expectations! Around 12 o'clock at night one could see amazing snacks in big quantities all around the bar, and…the dance floor...as there were lots of waiters giving away free snacks and delicious sandwiches. And for those who were too busy dancing during the food rotation…sandwiches were also given in the exit, for those leaving the party,until 3 o'clock in the morning!

As numerous events are organized by Glenn, I highly suggest that you attend one of those great parties, and give yourself a wonderful night, full of fun, amusement and...passion!

Latin Village Festival 2013

This Sunday, I decided to attend this year’s LATIN VILLAGE festival, and I have to say, I was not disappointed. Never have I seen such a big crowd in such a huge beautiful location. As the festival was open air, the sunny weather made it even more special. The warm atmosphere, the passion for music, the dance moves and the conviviality of the enthusiastic crowd made, everyone talk about a memorable Latin experience.

In this year’s ninth edition of Latin Village festival, from 14:00 o'clock, the festival doors were open! A true Latin Experience for anyone music minded who loves the good life!

In the festival, one could find six music platforms with different line-ups: LATIN HOUSE, RAW& LIVE, DOS-BY-D-RASHID,ELECTRIC-LATIN, SALSA LOUNGE AND AFRO BEATS with music genres for all tastes: club, eclectic, hiphop, house, latin, lounge, merengue, moombahton, r&b, salsa, trap and urban. This party is warmly embraced by the audience something which reveals the massive need of the crowd for such events.

I believe that the big success of the party is due to some reasons which make this festival special. It unites people from all ages, colors  and backgrounds, with a common passion for music. Everyone was relaxed, sitting in the grass or enjoying their food and drinks, listening to music or moving their bodies under their favorite rhythms.

What is more, everything in the festival was perfectly organised: the venue, the sound, the stages, the food and drinks.In addition, a big funfair was located close to the Salsa Lounge for those who wanted to take a break and experience some high levels of adrenaline! In the Salsa Lounge the crowd could also enjoy some shows and workshops given by salsa artists.

As a fashion lover myself, I feel obliged to comment on the beautiful and amazingly well dressed people that attended the party. All the girls had a really funky and hot dress-code and were all in fashion- something which was unusual but at the same time interesting to see in an open air festival. The good weather allowed the girls to put on their smiles,their summer party clothes and enjoy the music.

The party went on until 23:00, and as the time passed by each stage was more and more crowded, while the audience became more and more excited…! Bachata Lounge - Warmond

Vol goede moed en enthousisastme ging ik zaterdag 22 juni naar de altijd leuke en druk bezochte ‘Bachata Lounge' party te Warmond. Om de ingang te vinden moet je eerst het halve gebouw rond lopen voordat je eenmaal binnen bent. Dat beschouwen we maar als de warming-up voor de benen en het verhoogt de spanning omdat je vanaf buiten de warme en tropische klanken van bachata en salsa alleen nog maar hoort, en nog niet ziet.

Bij binnenkomst zag het er warm en donker uit. Logisch want  de party stond in het teken van ‘Candlelight’. Vandaar die heerlijke Bachata Romantica's. Ze klinken zwoel, slow en sexy. Helemaal top dus.

De  echte bachata liefhebber komt volledig aan zijn trekken en kan zich uitleven op de grootste dansruimte. Er werd volop en naar hartelust gedanst. Rond 01.00 uur werd het publiek nog verrast door een bachata demo van …………………… 

Op de salsavloer werd er ook uitbundig gedanst.  Het was niet zo druk dus het voordeel daarvan is dat je lekker voluit kan dansen. De derde ruimte was bestemd voor de kizomba fanaten. Jammer genoeg was het daar de gehele avond erg rustig.  

De dj’s  waren voor mij nieuw. Dat merkte je ook de muziekkeus. Het was, zoals eerder gezegd lekkere muziek, maar bij voorgaande edities was de muziek toch meer opzwepend, en gevariëerder. Dit gold zowel voor de bachata als de salsa room. Het was wat ingetogener dan normaal. Waarom dat was weet ik niet.

Over het algemeen heerste er een goede sfeer en had je veel dansruimte.

Publiek: lekker gemixed. Doelgroep metname tussen de 25  en 45 jaar

Consumptiebonnen: Verkrijgbaar tegen een goede prijs en bij te veel ingekochte muntjes kan je ze aan de eind van de avond weer inruilen. Dat vind ik geweldig en dat is bijna nergens anders!!

Havana Dancing nights - Den Haag

Eating & Drinking & Dancing & Cocktails

A real dance Cuban-style cafe where you can go for delicious food, great cocktails (and many available cocktail workshops), a sun terrace, guests from all over the world and of course a dance floor…right in the heart of Den Haag.

In the evenings after dinner, all the tables are moved to the side and the dance-floor is there with music that satisfies all tastes. On Thursday nights- there are very interesting discounts for students while Friday and Saturday night Havana becomes the meeting point of The Hague.

Personally my favorite day is Sunday, as it is the official Havana Salsa day. With great DJs, lots of space to dance, it is the ultimate place to be on a Sunday, and get the right energy for the

week that is about to begin. It is wonderful to begin with a lovely meal, and move on with a cocktail and some dancing. The classes provided in Havana by Universalsa are very high level and therefore attract many people every Sunday.

Salsa & Zouk Party - Station / Perron 3a

This Saturday(8th of June), I decided to attend the Salsa and Zouk Party in Haarlem Station  as I wanted  to enjoy a relaxing-salsa and zouk dance Saturday night. I was not disappointed at all, as there are few elements that make this party special:

The beautiful location:

Haarlem Station is a railway station in the Netherlands, located in the city of Haarlem on the Amsterdam–Rotterdam railway, the original train line linking Amsterdam to Zandvoort and Amsterdam to Leiden.It is a monumental place and a wonderful location for parties, with a wooden floor and a warm envinronment.

The music:

In my opinion the music is one of the most important factors in order to have a good time in a party, and those who attended the party on Saturday night, had a blast. The DJs (Andres “el Jefe” in the Salsa room and Zoukkero in the Zouk area) made some excellent choices, with favourite and classic songs that please each and every dancer.

The shows:

The party included two shows,one from La Essencia and a different and a spectacular and sexy Burlesque show. I believe that the Salsa and Zouk audience enjoy seeing different shows and dance styles from time to time, and that is why the choice of the Burlesque show was really successful.

The Schedule of the party:

Another reason for which the party attracts so many people, is it’s nice schedule, and it’s affordable price. With only 5€ entrance for both rooms, you can enjoy two workshops (Salsa Beginners by Tonka & Andre and Zouk beginners from Willem Engel), the shows, and the party. The party starts early (21:00) and finishes early (01.00), so that everyone feels relaxed and happy, and is full of energy to enjoy a beautiful Sunday.

No matter what your dancing style and preferences are, this is a party not to be missed!

Summerbreeze op het Westergasterras - Amsterdam

Donderdagen bij Summerbreeze zijn al 18 jaar een feestje. Sinds een paar jaar heeft het zijn vaste verblijfplaats op het Westergasterrein gevonden, naast de gasbrander. Bij droog weer is er een buitendansvloer waar je tot 23.00 onder de sterrenhemel kunt genieten van latinklanken. Je kunt ook eerst even een hapje doen op het terras van de Westerliefde.

 

Vanaf 19:00 draaien er buiten en binnen DJ's Salsa in de Westerunie en buiten en in het restaurant is altijd een ander soort muziek aan de beurt. De ene week Bachata ,soms zelfs Swingbeat en Oldskool beats, dus ook voor hen die niet voor de latin gaan is er in dit seizoen wel iets te doen bij Summerbreeze. Ook Kizomba en Zouk hebben speciale donderdagavonden. Echt voor elk wat wils, en dat zie je ook aan het publiek dat er op afkomt: jong en oud, doorgewinterd en onbekend met latin, alle soorten mensen zijn er samen in een sfeer die je altijd welkom heet. Limburg Salsa Festival

If you didn’t go to Limburg Salsa Festival this year, not only did you miss some great shows and parties but you also missed a great performance by Gabriel GalanPeralta and Joachim! One of the most well organised festivals I have ever been to, with an amazing venue- perfect floor and very well ventilated main room where you could dance for hours. Very high quality shows and workshops for all levels, super-hot photographers and an amusing but warm atmosphere.

The shows:

The festival had some top quality shows from all artists of origins from all over the world. New York, Los Angeles,  Mexico, Israel, Germany, Italy, Greece, France…you name it! Performers, DJs, dancers and artists from all over the world, were joined together to create three spectacular nights. For the fourth time in Limburg, the participants could come and watch amazing performances of World-class Latin dancers, or even…join the competition!! Some amazing shows were given by Adolfo Indacochea and his Latin Soul Dancers, Gaby and Estefy, Alessandro & Philomena, Panayiotis and Mirto, Marco and Samantha, Estilo Dance, and many others.

The workshops:

As the organisers of Limburg Salsa Congress claim, there were three reasons  why every dancer should attend the workshops of the congress:

Both experienced or not experienced dancers,  should not  miss out on the amazing opportunities to learn from the world's best Latin dancers. For guys: learn new moves to impress the ladies on the dance floor! For Ladies: pick up amazing body movement techniques and learn how to follow exciting new moves. In this festival you had also the opportunity to learn the newest dance crazes such as Zouk, Bachata & Reggaeton - Tango, Swing & Samba!

Limburg Salsa Congress takes pride in inviting only the most talented and friendliest instructors from all over the world to teach. The workshops represent an opportunity to interact personally with our international instructors, to hear their personal stories and their philosophies on dancing and teaching, something which cannot simply be acquired by watching them dance socially.

The Limburg Salsa Festival is an exciting opportunity to dance with different people. The workshops are a great way to meet new people from overseas. Chances are you'll be able to "try them out" at the workshop and make a mental note of who you want to ask to dance during the socials. You also get to "break the ice" at the workshops instead of spending hours agonizing about how to ask someone to dance during the socials.

The Parties:

Three crazy party nights + one pool party?!?! What more can someone ask for! Lots of party rooms to dance salsa dura, salsa romantica, kizomba, bachata, and reggeaton and lots of dancers from all over the world, all under one roof made the parties a BLAST! In my opinion, another impressive and very inspiring aspect of the party was the opportunity that EVERYONE in the festival had, to be professionally photographed by Mr Khalid Jalli, who has done some amazing work in the field of photography. After the parties, every dancer could attend an after party until 9 'o clock in the morning! The hot pool party  included lots of animation from the world’s most energetic artists.

Dos Bailadores Friday Night Party - Leiden

Dos Bailadores - The red party!! Celebrating Monique’s 50th birthday, was dressed in red and black. With bright red colours, great music, food and drinks, amazing shows, and a crazy crowd, what more can someone ask for a super-hot friday night??

For first time, a saw a dancefloor very different than normal. A great band with surprising live music, that fascinated the crowd. One could say that it was not a pure salsa, bachata, kizomba and zouk party, but the music programme also included disco, rock, and many popular hits!

With a very low entrance fee of € 7,- the party guests could enjoy lots of delicious and gourmet food snacks, both salty and sweet. Plus, all kinds of candies and fondue fountains with fresh fruit could be found next to the bar!

In my oppinion, the hottest moment of the event were the fascinating shows, best of which were given by Estilo dance, Willem (dance Alegria) and the EXTRAORDINARY Anderson and Brenda. The shows included salsa, zouk, tango,oriental and brazilian samba.

The atmosphere of the party was really glamorous, as all the ladies looked very sexy in their red dress outfits. Monique looked very happy to be celebrating her birthday among great friends, and great dancers.

Dos Bailadores is a wonderful venue-a spacious party area with excellent dancefloor, and dancers of all levels with a great desire for dance. As lots of parties are taking place in dos bailadores, I strongly recommend to give it a try, if you need some real fun!

Salsa Wednesdays at Boterwaag - Den Haag

If you want to try a different ‘after work’ place for a Wednesday night, Boterwaag in Grote Markt(Den Haag) is the ultimate place to be! Salsa Nights take place at the Boterwaag, every Wednesday from around 21.30 until late hours in the morning…!

Everybody is welcome for some free dancing to salsa, bachata, chacha, kizomba, merengue and reggeaton tunes. De Boterwaag Salsa Nights are open for everyone, even the less experienced dancers. And it's also an ideal evening to impress the love of your life...or even to find one! I was really impressed by the huge crowd of people dancing in the middle of this amazing place, moving as one…I felt like I was in Cuba, dancing and forgetting about tomorrow…

Always with amazing DJs, the music makes you want to start moving even if you don’t know any steps. This place combines all levels of dancers, from very high level passionate dancers who brake their week in half with some salsa, to just everyday people who just went out for a drink, but ended up having the time of their life in the centre of Den Haag. Everyone dances till they drop, and the dance floor remains full even at late hours!

If you just want to have some drinks and a bit of dance, the best time to be at Boterwaag is around 09.00 pm. If, on the other hand, you belong to the “hard-core dancers” category, the best time to go is around 10.30 to 11.00 pm.

In my opinion, it is one of the best places anyone could find to spend an amazing Wednesday night, and from now on…Wednesday is also a “Salsa day” in my calendar!

Fusion Salsa Party - Bachata edition - Nijmegen

It was one of those relaxing family salsa nights with great atmosphere and great people. FusionSalsa Party is a great event in Nijmegen, this time with two rooms, Salsa and Bachata. With DJ LALO "El Bandido" in the sensual Bachata room (occasionally you could hear a little Merengue) and DJ RODRIGUEZ Betho in the Salsa room playing Salsa Romantica, guaguanco, Mambo and Cha Cha, the place was full of passionate salseros and bachateros. What is more, the attendants could enjoy a workshop, a great show, and of course…great food, with a variety of Spanish Tortillas, chicken wings and meatballs.

Personally, I really enjoyed myself, because it was just what I needed in order to have real fun. Great floor, cool dancers, nice drinks, people with smiles on their faces, and fantastic music. As a genuine salsa music lover myself, I heard songs that one does not ofter come across in a regular salsa party. The selected chacha and mambo songs drove everyone on the dance floor. At 2.30, when the party was supposed to finish, the floor was still packed with dancers who asked for more salsa!

The Location of the party was Fusion Latina, in Nijmegen, the party went on from 21.30 (with a workshop) to 02.30 while the showtime was at 00.30. The admission fee was : € 7.50 and as always, the parties were non smoking!

Bachata Mania - Asten (NB)

De naam zegt het al, een Bachata feest waar je helemaal los kan gaan als een maniac op de heerlijkste Dominican Bachata beats en lekker kan wegdromen tijdens de Bachata Romantica. Dan snap je dat ik, BachataJunky helemaal op mijn plaats was deze avond.

Dit kwam onder meer door het top Bachata duo mister (Bachata) Latin Mania himself en DJ Marlon (bekend van Exclusive Bachata Night). Dit was alweer de 14e Editie van dit top feest in de sfeervolle locatie "de Pandoer" in Asten. DJ Latin Mania bewijst maar weer dat 'al het goede van ver komt' En VER is het, als je vanuit Amsterdam en omstreken naar dit feest moet rijden (1.45 uur). Toch zag ik veel bekenden die ook de moeite hadden gedaan om minimaal 1,5 uur te rijden. Maar ja, je bent een junky of niet!

Ook qua latin feesten weten die zuiderlingen wel hoe ze moeten feesten. Er is een ontspannen sfeer en je ziet allemaal vrolijke mensen om je heen. Hierdoor voel je je meteen welkom en als vreemdeling uit de grote steden hoef je echt niet bang te zijn om de hele avond aan de kant te staan.

Maar dan denk je nu misschien; "helemaal zo ver rijden voor een Bachata feestje?" Het is een ultieme belevenis op zich! Ben je een echte Salsa danser? Dan heb je een hele zaal voor jou en jouw mede SalsaJunkies. Ik ben geen salsa liefhebber, maar ik heb niemand stil zien staan.

Ik heb zowaar mijn dansende uren niet alleen doorgebracht in de mooie ruime Bachata zaal.. Deze editie was er namelijk ook een Kizomba zaal. Het was de kleinste zaal, maar helemaal vol met genietende mensen. Ik was zelfs bijna vergeten dat er nog een Bachata zaal was.

De dansers uit de grote steden kunnen nog heel wat leren van deze zuiderlingen. Terwijl Kizomba nog in de wieg ligt in Amsterdam en omstreken (qua lessen en feesten) is het Kizomba virus al helemaal verspreidt in het zuiden van het land... Laat dat virus maar komen!

SAMENVATTING
Aantal zalen: 3 zalen Aanbod: workshop & show Rekening houden met interesse van de dansers: Prima, alle zalen waren vol, maar wel dansbaar. Catering aanwezig: In de grote bachata zaal, aanbod aangepast aan publiek. Misschien is het handiger om dit wat meer uit de zaal plaatsen ivm geuren.. Garderobe: Beetje chaotisch zonder strak systeem en een lastige plek om aan het einde met z'n allen de jassen op te halen. Hierdoor een lange rij. Toiletten: gratis en centraal. Ontvangst: Erg vriendelijke portier en dame bij de kassa. Tijden: 21.00 - 03.00 Sfeer: Erg ontspannen en open.

Club Fiera Salsa, Bachata & Kizomba Party Deluxe

The Club Fiera Salsa Party, was a party for all tastes, with 3 large rooms (1x 100% Bachata, Salsa 1x 90% / 10% Bachata and 1x Kizomba / Mix) and a very big DJ line-up, with  DJ Bass, DJ Rafael & DJ Bripa and DJ Sigi on decks. A huge place for dancing, with three floors, a great dance-floor and lighting that made the party very atmospheric.

The party was addressed mostly to bachata lovers, hundreds of which were in the bachata room enjoying the music of DJ Rafael & DJ Bripa. As the two other rooms were not really crowded, the salsa and kizomba lovers had a lot of space to dance away and enjoy themselves!

The party, in addition to its many available square meters to dance, had some special features (some of which no other party has):

• Workshops (21.15 to 22.00): Those who attended the party had the opportunity to enjoy two great Bachata and Chacha workshops (Bachata Beginners by NUCITA & Gilbert and ChaChaCha Beginners / Intermediate by Sederick Short & Dianne).

• Shows: The Showtime started at 1 am sharp with super hot shows by Sizzling Salsa Show Team, Soeniel & Maud and Estilo Dance ft.. Sergio & Daphne.

• Massage: Tired from all the dancing? The party offered the possibility for dancers to relieve themselves from the dancing fatigue and to enjoy a massage from the hands of Caroline C Flexion!

• Food: Hungry from all the dancing? The dancers could enjoy delicious chicken satay in a spicy chicken sandwich and drive the hunger away! 

The location of the party was the Fokker Event Center,  the party lasted from 21:00 to 03.00 and the drinks could be payed in cash or by debit card. The wardrobe was guarded, and the parking was free for all the salseros, bachateros and kizomberos who came by car. The dress code was "nice, sexy and classy" while the entrance fee was €10,-. All in all it was a fun party, with charming all level dancers and good attitude on the dance floor, that left-especially the bachata dancers-very satisfied and happy.

La Noche Party - Rijswijk

La Noche is a stylish salsa party at the luxurious and exclusive ambiance of the Sir Winston Club. Class and quality are the norm that is reflected in the warm trendy decor, professional lighting and sound facilities, air conditioning, a wooden dance floor and plenty of free parking right next door. Although I am not very fond of casino type locations - I have to admit that it was a great place to spend a Saturday night, relax with your friends and have fun.

There were three facts that gave the party its great character. First of all, DJ Bass was spinning hot Mambo, Cha Cha, Bachata & lots of salsa romantica sounds! As a genuine mambo and salsa romantica lover, I could not let a single song pass by without dancing! There were all levels of dancers from level 1 to very advanced,  while the dj managed to keep the dance floor full until the very end of the party.

Secondly, those who attended the party had the opportunity to enjoy a spectacular show of Estilo Familia (Sabine, Sheng, Sergio, Daphne). A choreography on a Juan Luis Guerra Song, with great musicality, styling and impressive body movement .

Last but not list…ICE CREAM! Everyone who attended the party was given free delicious ice cream , which was a cool hint in the very HOT atmosphere of the party! The party lasted from 23.00 to 03.30, the admission fee was €10,-,  while the dress code for the party was Party & Style!

Salsa Breeze @ Best (Eindhoven)

Salsa Breeze - the party with the best Urban & Caribbean Music@ Sunrise Beachclub Aquabest in Eindhoven!

Salsa Breeze is a unique party concept in the south of the Netherlands, with the combination of a stylish beach club as location, 4 areas with the best music and a multicultural audience that create a cool 'breeze' in the atmosphere.

Salsa Breeze consists of 4 different areas: the Urban Breeze Area, the Salsa Breeze Area, the Zouk Breeze Area & last but not least the Bachata Breeze Area. In the Urban Area, the resident & guest DJs (FS GREEN, Sky, Medito, Mc Kal El Latinize & Entertainment) introduce the sexiest R & B, dancehall, latin house, electric beat & reggaeton sounds-with dancers melting together on the dance floor like nobody is watching. The Salsa Breeze Area with a resident and a guest DJ (DJ Ryad, DJ Guillermo, DJ Geraldo) playing the most rhythmic salsa, merengue and super sensual bachata. creating only the 'best of the best' Latin atmosphere. In the Zouk Breeze Area, the resident and guest DJs (live CACHE ROYALE (mini), DJ Freddy & DJ Zoukerro) choose the most sensual and exciting zouk sounds and in the Bachata area (DJ Jack & DJ Herb) all Bachata lovers are spoiled with the best urban & bachata classic sounds.What is more, in the Salsa area, the audience has the chance to enjoy every time a different Salsa show and this time it was the unique show Cielito Lindo performed by "La eSencia".

With a very hot atmosphere, with people who kept arriving from all over Holland - even towards the end of the party (due to the highly popular character of the event!!) - the party was a blast! A-festival like-event, VERY crowded, with sexy fancy dress code, hot ladies with cool outfits, and a very interesting location-no one could find a better place to spend their Sunday evening. As people had so many different and popular genres of music to choose from, this place could create unforgettable moments to even the most demanding guests..!

In addition, the party had a very interesting bar with several types of beer and cocktails at reasonable prices. The entrance fee for the party was €15,- and the party venue could be easily accessed with lots of parking space around it-and all in all, it is an event that I would highly recommend to all music and dance lovers!
